How Often are Indiana Realtor Licenses Renewed
Real estate licenses are renewed every third year in Indiana. The next renewal date is June 30, 2017.
How Often Are Continuing Education Courses Required in Indiana?
Real estate brokers must complete 12 hours of continuing education each year in Indiana for a total of 36 hours within a three-year period. The dates to take courses begin on July 1 of that year and continue to June 30 of the following year.
Are Education Courses Needed If a Realtor License Is Inactive?
It is not necessary for those with an inactive license to take continuing education. However, if a realtor with an inactive license wants to have that license renewed, then it can be renewed if the license has not lapsed for over three years. If the license has expired for over three years, the applicant must submit an application and must have completed the 36 hours of continuing education required for licensing over the previous three-year period. In addition, he or she must take the licensing exam again.
What Indiana Educational Requirements Are Needed for Licensing After July 1, 2014?
Licensing requirements for those originally licensed after July 1, 2014, differ from realtors holding a real estate license for a longer period. Those licensed after this date must complete the educational requirements within two years.
Are Core Subjects Required in Indiana?
Managing Brokers must complete four hours of the required 12 each year in courses that apply to legal knowledge or management and business skills. This is required if the broker worked as a managing broker at any point during the year.
Are There Hourly Requirements for Instruction in Indiana?
Courses must consist of at least two hours each but no more than eight hours of instruction in a one-day period. However, if the instruction is being taken through approved online or correspondence courses, that time limit may be extended.
What Are the Benefits of Correspondence or Online Courses?
While Indiana realtors seeking to complete education requirements can do so in a classroom setting, doing it using online or through correspondence courses makes more sense for many. Online courses can be accessed using a tablet, laptop, iPad, iPhone or other device, which makes it convenient to study anytime or anywhere. Others might prefer to study using correspondence courses in the form of a booklet because it makes it easy to refer back to clarify a point.
Are There Passing Grade Requirements?
When taking real estate training courses by correspondence, a grade of 75 percent is required in order to pass.
