Basic Alabama Real Estate License Requirements
To become a real estate agent in Alabama, the following requirements must be met:
- Must be at least 19 years old
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or have a permanent resident status
How Do I Apply for My Alabama Real Estate License?
You can apply for your Alabama real estate license after you complete the 60-hour pre-license course and pass the state exam. The application must be submitted to the Commission within 90 days of passing the state exam. A license application will be given to you at the test center upon passing the exam.
You must also submit fingerprints for a background check. More information on that process and how to schedule an appointment can be found on the Gemalto website. The fingerprinting fee is $48.25.
With your application you must also include:
- fingerprint background check
- proof of age
- proof of high school graduation of GED
- proof of citizenship or legal presence in the U.S.
- proof of residency
- application fee of $210.
How Do I Schedule My Exam?
You can take the Alabama Real Estate Licensing Exam by registering with the state testing facility AMP, a PSI business. Register now. The exam fee is $79.
What Can I Expect During the Alabama Licensing Exam?
You must take your state exam within 6 months of completing the 60-hour pre-license course.
The Alabama Real Estate exam consists of two portions – national and state-specific. You will have 3 ½ hours to complete both portions of the exam.
The national portion contains 100 questions, and the state portion contains 40 questions. The two portions will not appear as separate sections. You must score at least 70% on the exam in order to pass.
