Basic South Carolina Real Estate License Requirements
To become a real estate agent in South Carolina, the following requirements must be met:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be lawfully present and eligible to work in the U.S.
How Do I Apply for My South Carolina Real Estate License?
You are required to complete a 60-hour pre-licensing course before you can apply to take the South Carolina state exam. Before you apply for your license, you also need to complete a 30-hour Real Estate Principles course. Passing score sheets and proof of completing the 30-hour course must be submitted with your application and $25 fee.
Effective July 1, 2020, all real estate applicants will be required to obtain fingerprint background checks. After your application is reviewed, a specific South Carolina Real Estate Commission identifier will be provided, along with instructors for fingerprinting. How Do I Schedule My Exam?
You can schedule your South Carolina real estate license exam with PSI. There is a $55 fee for just one portion of the exam, or a $63 fee for both the national and state portion.
What Can I Expect During the South Carolina Licensing Exam?
The exam is broken down into two portions – national and state-specific. The national portion has 80 questions, and you will need to correctly answer 56 (70%) to pass. You will have 120 minutes to complete this portion. The state potion has 40 questions, and you will need to correctly answer 28 (70%) to pass. You will have 80 minutes to complete this portion. Your score report will be given to you upon completion of the exam, and reported directly to the South Carolina Real Estate Commission.
